Overview

Set in the distant Koprulu Sector of the galaxy, a tense political cold war between exiled human Terran colonies is violently shattered by the sudden emergence of two alien forces: the hyper evolved, biological swarm of the Zerg, and the highly advanced, psionic energy wielding Protoss. Across three sweeping interconnected military operations, commanders navigate betrayal, species level genocide, and the tragic fall of Sarah Kerrigan into the Queen of Blades.

An early alpha version of StarCraft built for the 1996 trade show circuit was widely mocked by journalists for looking like an uninspired space re skin of Warcraft II. Infuriated, lead programmer Bob Fitch threw out the original graphics layout and completely rewrote the engine code layers from scratch. The final build successfully managed complex isometric sprite layer depths and laid the structural foundation for modern global esports infrastructure over Battle.net.
