Behind The Scenes

To handle the verticality and complex geometry of Jedi Knight, LucasArts developed the internal Sith Engine. This tool allowed for gargantuan map scale and primitive 3D hardware acceleration. The game also famously featured live-action FMV (Full Motion Video) cutscenes using physical sets, digital green screens, and costumed actors, marking it as one of the last high-budget cinematic hybrid games of the CD-ROM era.
